Gratitude is being thankful. Lets have a look at this often forgotten virtue.

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.

Having the right attitude comes from making your mind think in a certain way. It’s up to you how you view the world. It is within your power to have a better attitude and to be grateful for what you have.

To get what you want you need to harness your mind. One of the most powerful ways to do this is simply to be grateful for what you already have. That is to show gratitude.

Being grateful means to appreciate and give thanks for what you have today, now – this very moment.

Gratitude is a pattern of thinking!

This pattern of thinking is what allows you to get what you want. Being grateful is not a new concept and even the bible instructs on giving thanks. This may be the case, however I know from the people I speak to, that this concept is not being integrated into their life.

It’s Simple

Gratitude is a simple concept to employ yet requires some effort to master and I will explain.

There is a cliche about a glass that is filled with water up to the half way mark. Depending on your way of perceiving the world you would class the glass as half full or half empty. This is just a way of saying that any given circumstance can be viewed in two ways. Of course everyone knows the glass cliche and when you are asked you take the positive view explaining that the glass is half full under the assumption that being half full is better than half empty.

When you are grateful you are giving thanks that the glass is half full. That means you are acknowledging that you have something – as opposed to lacking something. As you will see this is an important distinction to make.

It is a fact that you can be grateful for everything because no matter what you have or what you are immersed in today, there is always a worse situation that is an alternative possibility.

Being grateful is a way of viewing the world and it has a powerful effect because of the way your mind works. When you are grateful for what you have now you adopt a mind set that says you have or you are in a state of abundance.

You see when you acknowledge and give thanks for what you have you are stating and imprinting on your mind, that you “do have” as opposed to you “not having.” This imprints your current positive or abundant situation on your subconscious mind and your world turns out that way.

Irrespective of what you want, you need to be grateful for what you have – in order to get things that are better.

Here is how it works with a couple of easy examples.

You have a relationship with the people around you. Some are acquaintances others are strong friendships and of course you have your family. You do not have a romantic relationship at the moment but you want one.

Here are the two different ways you can view the world.

1. Without gratitude.

This means that your thoughts are on the fact that you don’t have a relationship and you want one. When your thoughts are on “wanting” it implies that you do not have the thing that you want. This type of thinking makes an imprint of a world without a relationship and this is what you get.

2. With gratitude.

This means your thoughts focus on what you do have and you are thankful for it. When you think about the great relationships you already have then you imprint that “you have great relationships” and this in turn sets the scene for it to occur.

Perhaps another example is called for.

A Car Example – Really?

You own a car and you want a better one. You think that your car is good, it works and it gets you around faithfully but you have your eye on an expensive sports coupe.

1. Having a car is better than not having a car. Having a car that works is better than having a car that doesn’t work. There is not really anything to whine about, it’s all positive.

2. Note that wanting another car is fine, there is nothing wrong with that.

3. If you want that other car and allow your thoughts to say and dwell on the opinion, that it is better and “you want it” you will push it away.

If you give thanks for the great car you have. Then you will imprint the fact that you have a great car. This will come true by the magic of your mind. It is a fact, you do have a great car and you have acknowledged it, you will imprint this onto your mind and it will remain true.

If you say and think “I want a great car” by implication you do not have one and this will come true. In fact by your thoughts it is already true and your subconscious mind will do its best to keep you in that situation.

So what can you be grateful for? Everything that you have in your life – including your life. (Check this article out for a different perspective)

So Simple Now Do More…

Very simple isn’t it. Just run around giving thanks for everything that is happening. You need to be genuine about it. What you are really doing is stating that only good things happen to you and so it shall be. Now of course there is a lot more to learn than that – but it’s really very easy.
